Greetings!
Will someone please tell me why May flies by so fast and
January just lingers on? Doesn't it always?

May Happenings |
|
The month started with a party at my brother
Michael's to celebrate Emma Grace Lyons' first communion. She
looked lovely and was so gracious opening her gifts. I know
I'm biased, but she really is special. I just had to show you.
|
|
The following week brought Cinco de Mayo. My friends and I
have a weekly "Monday night suppa club" and it's so fabulous.
Everyone takes turns hosting it and we were elated when we
realized the 5th of May fell on a Monday this year. Fun fun
fun. My dream is to someday publish the recipes and share the
antidotes that make our tummies and our faces smile on these
special (and silly) nights.

|
Because Mother's Day weekend at the store is crazy
busy, and my Mom has five kids that all want to spend time
with her, we opted to go out the Sunday after Mother's Day,
along with my sisters and one of my nephews. What a day. We
spent the day taking in some little league (my nephew's the
catcher on his team -that's him.. so big!) and then endulged
in some fresh Rhode Island seafood. Nothing wrong with that!
Ethan's team won... and the icing on the cake.. so did the
Sox! He is so my brother Joe!

|
Of course, the middle of May means one thing to true
antique junkies like myself...Brimfield.
I went on
Friday and although, it was a little drizzly- it was still
great fun for me.. to see the thousands of dealers attending,
so many fields of things to look at you don't know where to
begin.
It's known as the largest antique show in the
world held since 1959!

Around Town |
|
Last week, my neighbor across the way went up for his class
B full liquor liscense and had huge success thanks to the many
residents and merchants that showed up to support him. I'm
happy to announce that you can now get a cocktail at the Tavern
By the Sea. Stop in and have dinner and a drink. It's so
picturesque and the food is wonderful.
|
|
Speaking of wonderful food, the Beach Rose Cafe has
announced it's summer hours and they are once again offering
dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings.
|
|
Over on Main St. there's a new shop around the corner
called Eveline
Luppi Gallery. They are open and very exited to be
here!

New Window Boxes Coming Soon
|
|
Twelve years ago on the 15th, I closed on the purchase of
Beauty and the Bath. A dear friend saw that the flower boxes
outside were looking a little.. well... delapitated and has
lovingly made two gorgeous new red cedar boxes! As we speak
they are at the coppersmith's being lined to withstand the New
England weather. You should be able to drive by the shop next
week and smile. I have to say, my best day off in a long time
was spent shopping at the wholesaler's for ivy and annuals to
fill my stunning new purple boxes. Pictures to follow!

Summer Pajamas |
|
Summer pajamas have arrived and are flying out already! I
know the talk is that the economy is doom and gloom but I
guess no one told my faithful customers. It seems, instead of
filling up their gas tanks to go out of town, they're opting
to stay close to home and look great while they're doing it.
Kim and Jen unpacked countless styles of pj's , capris, robes
and gowns last Friday. Check these out ~ just a sampling of
what's here.

I heard they had a great showing at their annual Baltic Amber

|
And right next door, the ladies at Askham and Telham are
enjoying their May arrivals. Tall white pitchers, lamps,
ceramics and some dog prints from artist Lucy Dawson are just

On June 19th, Kindermusik of Wickford will launch a new
Kindermusik program for the community's littlest of music
makers at More
than Music . Classes will be taught by Krishna Johnson, a
mother of three and one of my very best lifelong friends who
has recently moved back to town (I'm so elated she's home!).
According to Krishna, Kindermusik provides a powerful
experience for a child and parent."The many songs and
activities in Kindermusik class enhance a child's total
development by strengthening physical, emotional, social and
cognitive skills at a very early age," Krishna Johnson
explains. "Kindermusik believes a child's most important
teacher is his or her parent. That's why we are one of the
very few programs that include parents in activities with
their children." Click
here for class info and contact information.

Memorial Day Parade |
|
The Memorial Day parade brought droves of folks
into town to honor those in the Armed Forces.
While I was walking into town,
the robin that feverishly made a nest on my porch laid her
second egg and since then she's left a third.
Funny,
Mommy's not shy. She made the nest litterally half on my porch
railing and half in my 'Fourth Of July' rosebush, inches from
where everyone sits on my Granny rockers and right above where
Oliver takes his afternoon nap! I'll let you know when they
hatch.
