Christmas, 2005
11 West Main Street Wickford, RI 02852 ~ Open late during December! 401.294.3576 email
Another December is flying by, already the pajama party has come and gone. We had such a great turnout. You all really never cease to amaze me..trekking out in your pajamas and robes on a frigid December night. Troopers... actually die-hard shoppers is more like it! The ever-so- wonderful Kim stuck it out, helping everyone outside serving hot chocolate. My sister Gina outdid herself with her incredible hors d'oeuvres and deserts (she's my life-saver...always has been). And of course, Jay Donohue came through again with pounds and pounds of shrimp cocktail. Krista Cutting's baked brie...all I can say is, lucky us. As many of you know, in my commitment to continue supporting women, I chose Crossroads to donate the many many books brought in that night. I'm recognizing that we are fortunate women and hope to bring joy into other's homes. So you've played a part in all of this. Kudos to you!
Did anyone hear the show "Living the Good Life" on 63 WPRO last Sunday??
Steve and Deb Cass invited me to do a live telephone interview to talk about last minute gifts and what's hot this year at the store. They love Wickford and came down to do some shopping later that day, Steve had to try the Jack Black Beard Lube I was mentioning!
We're also in Rhode Island Monthly this month with some relaxing bath and spa gift ideas!
Annual XMAS Window Contest
It was stiff competition this year for the Wickford Window Decorating Contest. We got second place with Shaggy Chic capturing first and JW Graham taking third. For those of you who haven't heard, the theme at Beauty and the Bath this year was "Blue Christmas". We had an Elvis impersonator come and perform live outside the shop. It was quite the show- I mean car-stopper! Channel 10 weather gal Kelly Bates ate him up! I, of course, had to transform myself into Priscilla for a couple of evenings. A little too much fun! Here's some pictures of winners and other favorites.
This year, B&B Went with an Elvis "Blue Christmas" motif, complete with an Elvis impersonator, and myself as the lovely Priscilla Presley, for a respectable 2nd Place finish.
Shaggy Chic captured first place.
And The Beadz Goes On Looked Quite Festive
As Did Different Drummer
The Avis Block - Decked in Holiday Style!

Just a reminder...
All of the really great shops in town are open late now 'til Christmas.
And, best of all, the shop keepers are still happy and helpful!
WE ARE OPEN 'TIL AT LEAST 9. p.m. EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK!

Last Minute Gifts?
I have to say, the slipper sox are still the most purchased present again this year. I think because everyone, young and old, loves to cover their feet in softness. We are selling almost as much men's as the ladies' style and we just unpacked our fourth order in eight weeks.

Beard Lube is definetly the trendiest- gotta have it- shaving cream and the perfect guy stocking stuffer. We had samples at the register all year and I can't believe how many guys have said it's changed their shaving routine forever.
For the people that you just need a little something for ( the dog walker or the bus monitor) the sliced soaps are festive and affordable. Great for your guest bathroom at your holiday party, too. Check out this year's designs...

Holiday parties, anyone?
Show the hostess " you're the mostess!" Who's got time to bake a pie? With our party calendars and our daily schedules filled up, we have just the right thing to put a smile on our hostess's face:
Our Favorite Shower Syrups
in Peach Parfait
and Foaming Caramel Cappuccino
and gift sets from Jaqua.

So before you tie a bow around a boring bottle of wine, or (heaven forbid) that recycled gift your last guest gave you, freshen up your gift-giving style with a few of our favorite things. We promise, your hostess will adore you for it.

Any Fishermen In The Family?
My brother's website - Surfcasting Rhode Island - has a great selection of quality fishing gear!
