Dear Lori,
If the temperature outside has got you doubting if it
really is in fact fall, take a ride through downtown Wickford
and you will soon be convinced. Your village merchants, along
with the strong arms of Timmy Schartner, have made it a sight
to see. Pumpkins and cornstalks and mums, oh my!
I've
never in my 18 years of working in this building we call the
Avis Block, seen more folks taking pictures of our notorious
storefronts. (OK- maybe with the exception of the night I
hired the Elvis impersonator to sing "Blue Christmas" outside
my shop!!). It really does make you feel proud. So proud that
Susan Smith has been snapping some great pictures herself and
was kind enough to share them with all of us.

Microplane Foot Files- Get Back to Your Baby Soft
Feet - With Just One Use!
Calluses are your body's way
of protecting its soft, vulnerable skin from too much stress
on your feet. The Microplane® Foot File is the first step in
solving this problem by gently, (yet effectively), removing
the dead skin cells that are hiding your baby soft skin
underneath.

New Reed Diffusers Why Is XELA Better? No flame.
No smoke. No problem. XELA Aromasticks reed diffusers are a
cleaner, safer, more natural alternative to candles, incense
and chemical air fresheners. They're ideal for dorm rooms,
nurseries, salons - or any other spaces where smoke and flames
just won't do. And did we mention they last longer, too?

I attended the launch party for the new magazine that
focuses on South County called "SO Rhode Island" which was
held at the 1149 Restaurant in East Greenwich. It was a great
opportunity to network and meet the faces behind the pages.
Here's L to R: Ric Murray of Ric
Murray Studios and Karen Lucas of The
Hourglass, myself, my dear friend and right hand gal Kim
Eldridge and Margaret O'Connor of Wickford
Web Works. SO much fun!

I would like to close with these timely facts and words of
wisdom from a fellow merchant:
Ah, time. It's the
uniting aspect of the entire world. It's the one thing
everyone has, and would like more of - but no one can control,
manufacture or stop the passage of time.
Is it time
for a change? The Hour Glass would like to remind everyone
that Daylight Saving Time has changed - literally - and ends
at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. Remember to FALL
BACK on November 4th, reverting back to standard time.
Stupid true fact: TIME is the most used noun in the
English language!
