I have to say, we had a terrific season this year. Having a retail store is certainly a 24/7 operation. But the final three months is like the wedding finale. In a sense we have been preparing all year. During November and December we're talking about what worked, what didn't, what we didn't buy enough of, what products customers were happy or disappointed with. I have made endless notes and at the end of the month I'm off to market again to buy it all over again for Xmas '07. Everyone I tell this to rolls their eyes and can't believe it. I on the other hand am actually excited. While this season is still fresh in my mind, I can correct my mistakes and redesign the coming year. I have already received a couple of catalogs for '07 and I am excited at what the store will look like next year. But enough of that- on to the present:

We have some pictures to share... actually alot, I'm sorry but there was so many good ones. Our tenth (can you believe it?) pajama party was just too much fun! Again you all amazed me coming out in your pj's and Santa hats with books in hand for firstbook.org. The food was outsanding- everyone made the best appy's for me..and the grown up hot chocolate ran out again! I thought I made more than enough this year but the shoppers were thirsty! Through Firstbook.org- the South County Community Action Head Start program received all of the new books you brought to the event. Their literacy program was very much in need and we made them very happy!

I'm not one to brag (yeah right) but we won first place in Wickford Village's Holiday Dispay contest. This year was extra special because my group of friends that participated in this window got so into it!

My tiny cottage was transformed into a mermaid workshop with all the paper mache, painting and sewing going on. It was a labor of love right down to my six year old niece Emma who glued the jewels on the treasure chest. People came over nightly just wanting to be a part, even if it was just to cook us dinner! How lucky am I to be surrounded by such love and enthusiasm!?!

Even better than the big prize or being on tv has been the children at night just staring at those mermaids saying... "Their tails move!"
